Agriculture ministers from across the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) region have endorsed two regional frameworks covering agrifood investment and seed policy, ENA English reports.
The endorsements came at an IGAD ministerial meeting, according to the outlet. The two instruments are the Regional Agrifood Systems Investment Plan, referred to as RASIP, and a Regional Seed Policy framework. IGAD said the move advances efforts to transform agrifood systems across the region, while a separate ENA English report said the bloc is calling for coordinated investment to build food systems that can withstand shocks.
Coverage of the meeting names at least two national officials. Uganda's Minister Muhooza endorsed both the investment plan and the seed policy framework, according to the Uganda Media Centre. Sudan's Minister of Agriculture also addressed the gathering, Sudan Horizon reported.
